I am having a Black Friday donation-based yard sale to raise money to teach English for a year in Colombia, South America, through WorldTeach, a non-profit, non-governmental organization administered through Harvard University's Center of International Development.

I am primary selling clothing (mostly women's clothing) and books so I don't have to store as many things while I am gone for the year. Minimum donation is $1 per item. All money raised will go directly to the program cost.

For more information on the WorldTeach program, visit http://www.worldteach.org/programs/colombia_year/

Hope to see you there!

hi all, i'm sorry that my first post here has to be about something bad, but my roomie's scooter got stolen this afternoon (15oct).. she had it parked in it's usual spot by the back door of the building. i went out at about 2:00 and it was there, and it wasn't when i got back at 3:30. at first i thought she had gone riding, but i got into the apartment and she was home, so we called the police.

can anyone recommend places to look to see if someone tried to sell it or pawn it or dump it? i'd sure appreciate if everyone can please please keep an eye out for it. it was her only transportation, and she doesn't have the money to replace it, as she's on disability.

description:
*) green and white pico flyscoot with a black seat and a luggage rack on the back

*) has a heavy black cable lock on the luggage rack
*) has a black and white sticker on the front with the traditional handicap symbol, but with a heart instead of a wheel, and the text "e3love.com" on it
*) has a pink triangle sticker on the rear

if you see it or know anything, PLEASE call me at 720/291-9691, thanks so much!

  queerunity

05:34pm 10/05/2010
Family Guy an animated television series on Fox aired an extremely transphobic episode on Mother's Day. The episode called "Quagmire's Dad" was about a big life change for his father, a recognized Navy war hero veteran. The episode is filled with homophobic and transphobic language and judgment.

Take action by emailing askfox@fox.com and tell them to pull the episode off the air.

In a CNN segment called 'Finding a "cure" for homosexuality?' by anchor Kyra Phillips the network has given the pseudo-scientific topic of "ex-gay" therapy and its proponents a national platform to advocate for their harmful and unsound work.

The Smitten Kitten - Opening April 1
  mssaskia

02:22pm 31/03/2010

Address: 70 Broadway (next to The Hornet), Denver, CO 80203
Opening: 11AM-9PM, Thursday, April 1, 2010
Grand Opening Celebration Party: 7-10PM, Saturday, April 24
www.smittenkittenonline.com

The Smitten Kitten, a multiple-award-winning sex toy and equipment retailer, will be opening a second location in Denver, Colorado April 1st.

The Smitten Kitten opened in July of 2003 in Minneapolis, MN, with the intention of creating a welcoming, affirming, and education-based sex toy shopping experience for its customers. Since opening, the company’s incredibly diverse clients have learned to count on The Smitten Kitten to deliver hard-to-find, hand-crafted toys as well as the most cutting-edge, sex-positive information and resources.

In 2003, the founders of Smitten Kitten formed The Coalition Against Toxic Toys, a consumer advocacy group, striving to bring awareness and change to a highly disingenuous sex toy industry. Consumers all over the country and world have relied on C.A.T.T. to provide information on safe toys and their use. The Smitten Kitten continues to have one of the largest selections of medical-grade silicone toys in the world and strives to promote small manufacturers and local artisans.

The Smitten Kitten has served as a community partner and advocate, creating business relationships with fellow small local business. The owner, Jennifer Pritchett, has always prioritized philanthropic giving and sponsorship of local and national organizations.

Throughout its six-and-a-half years of business, education has remained a pillar of The Smitten Kitten’s business model. Everyone who works at The Smitten Kitten is trained as a sex educator. These educators do daily sex education, teach in store events, and do outreach into the community with queer youth groups, clinicians, mental health practitioners, university classes and social workers. Smitten Kitten features nationally known sex educators like Tristan Taormino, Midori, Jayme Waxman, and others at least 5 times a year.

This is Smitten Kitten’s first expansion into another location. The business will be structured in many of the same ways as its Minneapolis counterpart, with an emphasis on local aesthetic and community. The new store will open April 1st at 11am. It is located at 70 Broadway, just south of downtown Denver. Smitten Kitten Denver will be celebrating its first few weeks in business April 22nd through the 25th. The festivities will begin on Earth Day, the 22nd, with ecosexy giveaways and specials. The weekend will continue with 20% off everything in the store until the 25th. The weekend celebration will culminate with a star-packed party on Saturday, April 24th, from 7-10PM. Nationally renowned sex educator and director Tristan Taormino and Porn Performer Adrianna Nicole will be the special guests, doing signings, and engaging in great conversation. Smitten Kitten will be selling Taormino and Nicole’s films for 40% off this night only. There will be tasty treats and refreshments, including cupcakes by Lovely Confections Bakery, a local organic bakery. All the weekend’s events are free and open to everyone.

Let's Talk (Kinky) Sex with Mistress Saskia

10:30pm 16/03/2010
I've been in the Denver leather scene for about 12 years and enjoy introducing beginners of all orientations and genders to my weird world of fun.  I'll be at the Arvada Fascinations from 7-9pm on Thursday, March 25, talking about and demonstrating safe and fun ways to introduce a little kink to the bedroom (or bathroom or kitchen or tent or...!).   There's no charge for the event, and anyone attending will receive a 15% discount on anything in the store.

  Hi everyone,

I’m a graduate student at the University of Colorado, conducting a study on how men from different social groups talk, and I would like to include men from diverse backgrounds, including men from the GLBT community.

I’m looking for volunteers in the Denver metro area (or nearby - I'm willing to travel to get to you) who would be willing to complete a short interview. This interview would involve meeting with me for approximately 45-60 minutes to answer questions about various aspects of your life experiences, including where you grew up, what you do for a living, your hobbies and interests, as well as your experiences with the GLBT community. These interviews can take place at a comfortable location of your choice, including your home or in a private office at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The only requirements to participate are that you self-identify as male, are a native speaker of English and originally come from Colorado, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah or New Mexico. Please contact me if you aren’t sure whether you meet these requirements. Volunteers will receive $15 cash to compensate them for their time!

If you’re interested in participating or have any questions about this study, please don't hesitate to email me at zimman at colorado dot edu.

Thanks!

Hello! I'm Uschi, female, 25, ColoSpgs. Kinda punk-geek sort. This place seems pretty dead, but I might as well try, hey?

Anyone know good places in the Springs area that tend to be more into the kink/genderqueer/burlesque themes? I'm rather shy to get out to bars and clubs, being a bit toward autistic on the neuro-functionality scale, so I'd prefer to find somewhere more open to my sort of scene before jumping in. I don't really have anyone I can go to places with, so maybe smaller functions or venues would be better if you know of any... somewhere that isn't overwhelming for an individual with social phobias.

Thanks for any help you can offer! :)

Where to go?

Hi! I wondered if anyone here is from Colorado, specifically the area in or around Denver or Boulder, and can give me some info or tips about the gay club scene in the area. I've done some research online, but it would be great to get some information from people who've actually been to various places, as opposed to just sites that promote a club. I'm especially curious about details like which places cater more to men than to women, or if certain clubs have various "nights", i.e., male-only or mixed, or if there are places that would be of interest to guys in the gay BDSM scene. Any information at all would be helpful, so - where do you all hang out?

Cross-posted here and there; I apologize in advance for any resultant spammage.
